Mingo mother and daughter accused in child, animal neglect investigation appear in court
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A mother and daughter accused in a child and animal neglect investigation in Mingo County appeared in court Thursday. Sharon Simpson, 63, and Christi Hatfield, 37, both of Williamson were arrested May 7 at an apartment building on West 4th Avenue. The mother and daughter lived in separate apartments in the building, according to family members who said the children were in Simpson's apartment.

Twin Branch debt absolved by state
State officials announced May 8 that they have absolved the county of a $1 million debt obligation on the Twin Branch Drag Strip property. Originally pledged to the county as a grant by former Gov. Bob Wise, but that was later changed to a loan by then-Gov.
