Softball: Livingston Routs MKA, 15-0, in Essex County Tournament

LIVINGSTON, NJ_ Livingston advanced in the first round of the Essex County Tournament with a 15-0 softball victory over Montclair-Kimberley Academy on Saturday.

Olivia Melucci drove on four runs with a double and a single and Caitlin Hernandez doubled and drove in two runs for Livingston (12-5), which scored four runs in the first inning and five in the second.

Valentina DiIanni collected three hits and scored three runs, and Allie Nankivell and Sydney Schrager each picked up two hits in the win.

Winning pitcher Sophia Mount struck out eight batters and allowed only one hit in four innings.

Livingston, the second seed, will host seventh-seeded West Essex in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
