    Golf Recaps May 9-15

    Below are summaries of local golf meets between May 9 and May 14, compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    Flyers boys and girls golfers make top ten at Wapicada Golf Course

    The Little Falls Flyers boys golf team competed at the Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids Wednesday, May 15. The team took fourth with a score of 345. Ryan Oothoudt placed sixth, shooting a 81. Luke Avery placed 17th, shooting an 87, Cullen Moe followed in 18th place, also shooting 87.

    The Flyers competed at the pre-section meet at the Blackberry Golf Course in Sartell Monday, May 13. They finished fourth as a whole (335). Oothoudt and Moe led the way, tying for 11th place (83), Avery tied for 14th place (84).

    The Little Falls Flyers girls golfers also competed in a conference meet at the Wadicapa Golf Course Tuesday, May 14. Imagine Hines finished in fourth place scoring a 87. Olivia Dempsey finished 28th, shooting a 111.

    Royals girls making personal bests

    The Royalton Royals girls golf had a number of golfers make multiple achievements in the last two meets. The played a two-part meet Friday, May 10. They played the first nine holes in Osakis and the next nine holes in Brooten. In Osakis, Hannah Krueger shot a 52, which tied the lowest round of her career. Marissa shot a 64, followed by Chloe Patrowitz with 68 and Brooke Meek with 79. At the end of the round, the Royals had a score of 263. In Brooten, Sobiech and Krueger tied at a score of 56. This was Sobiech’s new career low. The Royals had 257 in the round.

    The Royals hosted their home meet at the Little Falls Golf course Thursday, May 9. This is where Hannah Krueger achieved her career lowest round of 54, earning her fourth place. Sobiech shot a 62 in the round, along with Meek getting a 63 and Piotrowski with a 65. As a whole, the Royals earned 242.

    The Royals also traveled to the Ken Hall Invitational in Kimball Monday, May 13. Krueger finished in 10th, shooting her lowest round at 109. Sobiech took 15th, shooting a 119.

    Royals boys place well at CMC meet

    The Royalton Royals boys golf team had a busy week, starting with taking third at the conference double header at Brooten and Osakis May 9.

    Spencer led the team in Brooten, taking fifth place with a 39. Schaut and Hollenbeck earned a 43, Boyd at 45, Block at 47 and Kyle Swensen with a 48. The Royals had a team score of 170 and was two strokes from second place. The second part of the meet at Osakis was just as intense, with Schaut finishing in second with a 40. He was two strokes from taking first. Spencer shot a 48.

    The Royals Section 6AA Pre-section meet at the Blackberry Golf course in Sartell, Monday, May 13. The Royals had a team score of 376. Zach Schraut led the team, shooting an 82. Nate Spencer followed with a 92, Ben Boyd with a 98.

    Pioneers boys take sixth in Sauk Rapids and Kimball

    The Pierz Pioneers boys golf team finished in sixth place at the Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids Wednesday, May 15. Nathan Cekalla took 20th with a score of 87. Ty Leidenfrost took 26th (91), Jack Prokott in 32nd (96) and Caden Knutson in 33rd (96). Beau Virnig finished in 38th (102) and Brady Dick in 43rd (102).

    The Pioneers took seventh (368) at the pre-section meet at the Blackberry golf course in Sartell Monday, May 13. Cekalla placed 17th (85), along with Dick in 26th (88), Leidenfrost in 43rd (97).

    The Pioneers traveled to Kimball Thursday, May 9, placing sixth out of 13 teams. Prokott led the way, tying for 10th place (82), Cekalla in 14th (85) and Leidenfrost in 30th (90).

    Pioneers girls take first in Kimball

    The Piers Pioneers girls golf team took first at the meet in Kimball Monday, May 10. Whitney LeBlanc took third (89), followed by Tiffany Virnig in fourth (96) and Kari LeBlanc in eighth (106). These three girls made the all-tournament team. Weyer took ninth (107) and Herold in 14th (117).

    The Pierz Pioneers girls golf team took third at the meet in Wapicada Golf Club in Sauk Rapids Tuesday, May 14. Kari LeBlanc tied for 11th place, shooting a 101 and Whitney LeBlanc followed in 14th (102). Macey LeBlanc and Cameron Herold tied for 17th place (103).
