    Baseball Recaps May 3-7

    Below are summaries of local baseball games between May 3 and May 7, compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    Flyers lose two games on the road

    The Little Falls Flyers baseball team struggled on the road in the last two games. They fell to Albany 8-1 Tuesday, May 7. Carter Oothoudt threw one strikeout on the mound and allowed two hits. Carter Gwost earned the team’s only run.

    The Flyers also traveled to Foley Friday, May 3, where they fell 6-0. Gwost threw four strikeouts while Joey Welinski threw two.

    Patriots win one out of last two games

    The Upsala/Swanville Patriots baseball team traveled to compete in a double header against Long Prarie-Grey Eagle Tuesday, May 7. The Patriots won the first game 3-0. Those who earned a run were Brice Binek, Hunter Boeckermann and Calvin Leners. Brody Kircher had two runs batted in and earned one base on balls. Hunter Moore threw seven strikeouts on the mound and allowed on base on ball .

    The Patriots lost the second game 8-5. Moore and Jack Primus earned two runs each while Leners scored one. daniel Kokett pitched five innings and threw one strikeout. Binek stepped in later and threw two.

    The Patriots hosted Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Friday, May 3, losing 2-1. Boekerman one run. Moore pitched for a little over four innings, throwing five strikeouts. Isaac Gapinski later stepped in and threw three.

    Royals win last three games

    The Royalton Royals beat Kimball in a double Header Tuesday, May 7. The Royals won the first game 7-2. Brady Yourczek threw eight strikeouts on the mound and allowed two bases on balls. Brady Yourczek had eight strikeouts and allowed five hits. At the plate, Yourczek went 3-4 with two runs batted in, along with a two-base hit. Matthew Swenson had a two-base hit, one run and one run batted in.

    The Royals won the second game 10-6. Sean Schmidtbauer was the starting pitcher, throwing two strikeouts. Marcus Hayes also pitched, earning three strikeouts. Brady Yourczek and Jonah Schneider each had two runs, two runs batted in and a home run. Brandon Trisko was 1-3 with two runs batted in. Ethand Albright 1-2 and had one run.

    The Royals also traveled to Osakis Monday, May 6, where they walked away with a 3-2 victory. Schnieder threw six strikeouts in six innings. Nick Leibold threw one strikeout. Liebold was 2-3, along with a two-base hit. Schnieder was 1-3, with one walk and two runs batted in. Swenson, Yourczek, Trisko and Marcus Hayes also went 1-3.
