    Track and Field Recaps April 25-30

    Below are summaries of local track and field meets between April 25 and April 30, compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    Flyers boys and girls take fourth in Alexandria

    The Little Falls Flyers track and field team competed at an invitational meet in Alexandria Tuesday, April 30. Both boys and girls teams took fifth out of the seven teams competing.

    Noah Cameron took first place in the 400 meter race with a time of 53.42. Gabe Shanoff took took first in the long jump with a length of 20’5.75. The boys 4x100 relay team (Mark Hughes, Eddie Sobiech, Isaac Olson and Hank LeClair) took second (43.76).

    Top performers for the girls include Malin Youngberg winning the 3,200 run with a time of 11:49.39. Adrianna Swanson finished second in the long jump (15’4).

    Patriots’ Quinn Guthrie breaks own team record

    The Upsala/Swanville track and field team had a two-meet week, starting with its latest competition The Patriots also competed at the Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball Invitational Thursday, April 25 where the boys tied for fifth place and the girls took sixth.

    Quinn Guthrie finished broke his own team record in the 3,200 meter race, taking third with a time of 10:02.84. Nicholas Guthrie took first in the discus throw (139-08). Caleb Guthrie took first in the high jump (6-03.00), followed by Caleb guthrie in second (5-7.00).

    The girls’ Maddison Tschida took third in the 400 meter race (1:06.24). Alyssa Young took second in the long jump (33-00.75)

    The Patriots also competed in Howard Lake Tuesday, April 30. The boys took third and the girls finished fourth. Matthew Tschida took first in the 800 meter run (2:14.33). Joseph Guthrie also took first in the 1,600 meter race (4:42.64), followed by Tschida in second (4:48.59). Quinn Guthrie took first in the 3,200 meter run (10:36.70) and the long jump (20’4). Nicholas Guthrie followed in second place (18’11) and also took second in the discus throw (125’0).

    For the girls, Alyssa Young finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (17.81), took third in the long jump (15’3) and finished second in the long jump (32’8). Genevieve Mrozek took third in the discus throw (88’9).

    Royals boys and girls place eighth in Kimball

    The Royalton Royals track and field team competed at the Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball Invitational. Both boys and girls placed eighth.

    The Royals Chaz Psyck took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.14. Max Vannurden finished fifth in the high jump (5-05.00) and the triple jump (36-06.50).

    Aurora Walberg led the girls with a second place finish in the 100 meter race (13.03) and the 200 meter race (27.03). Claire Prokott finished third in the long jump (15-07.00)

    Pioneers girls take second at Eden Valley Watkins-Kimball Invite

    The Pierz Pioneers track and field team had a great showing at the Eden Valley-Watkins Invitational Thursday, April 25. The girls took third and the boys finished in fifth.

    The Pioneers’ Quinn Gruber took second in the 1,600 meter run (6:09.46) followed by Morgan Litke in third (6:19.94). The 4x200 relay team (Avery Gruber, Matayla Pohlkamp, Evalie Gall and Claire Gruber) took third with a time of 1:55.49. Beverly Rentz took third in the shot put (31-09.00) followed by Allison Skiba in fourth (30-02.00).

    The top-performing Pioneers boys includes Kaleb Poser who took first in the 110 meter hurdles (17.63). Wyatt Betsinger taking second in the 800 meter run (2:12.65) and third in the 1,600 meter run (4:50.30). The boys 4x200 relay team (Logan Gross, Aiden Jones, Kyle Stangl and Paul Nieman) finished in second (1:39.87).
