Harriet Tubman Cultural Center's Memorial Day ceremony honors historic segregated school students
COLUMBIA, Md. — Howard County residents came together Monday morning at theHarriet Tubman Cultural Center in Columbia for Memorial Day. The center's ceremony highlights those who attended the former Harriet Tubman School and went on to serve in the military, including Frederick Cager, who attended the school from 1949 to 1955 before he went on to serve in the Air Force.
City Of Frederick Swimming Pools Postpone Opening Date
The pools will be open to the public. Frederick, Md. (BW)- After originally being scheduled to open on May 27, the Diggs and Thomas swimming pools will now open on June 1. During routine inspections, the city of Frederick identified some safety concerns and are now making enhancements before opening the pools.

Howard County's American Legion Post 156 and Marine Corps League Detachment 1084 held a Memorial Day Ceremony at St. John Episcopal Church in Ellicott City at noon Sunday. The Howard County Civil Air Patrol provided the colors and the guest speaker was Cole Schnorf, a Gold Star Family Member.
