Deadline to Pre-Register for Butterfly 5K is May 17th
It’s time to register for the Butterfly 5K and Fun Run, which will be held at the Waynesboro City Park on Saturday, June 1, 2024, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The red registration forms will be appearing at businesses all over the county in the coming weeks. Pick one up, fill out the information, and mail it in so it reaches the Foundation by May 17. Be sure the age, date of birth, and sex are correct because of the awards. Check t-shirt size and type and indicate the 5K or the Fun Run, which is for age 12 and under. Anyone running in both races will need to fill out a separate form for each race because each requires a separate race bib number.

Soccer Team Loses to Richland, Hernandez Signs With UT Southern
On Monday, May 6th, the combined WCHS/CHS soccer team traveled to Richland for their first post-season tournament game, a district tournament semi-final. Richland was the #1 seed in the tournament, having beaten all the other district teams twice. Richland dominated the game from the beginning, although Wayne County was able to generate some offensive pressure. Eight minutes in, a Richland striker beat an outside defender and put a low shot into the Wayne County goal. Five minutes later Richland got a corner kick; one of their mid-fielders got the ball at the back end of the penalty box. His hard shot grazed the bottom of the crossbar as it went in. Richland scored another goal five minutes before halftime to leave the score 3-0 Richland at the half.
