Idlewild making improvements to Story Book Forest, other areas in 2024

Idlewild in Ligonier is making a “massive” improvement to one of the most beloved sections of the park, Story Book Forest.

The area that takes children and their families through classic fairy tales and nursery rhymes opened in 1956 at an adjacent park and officially joined Idlewild in the early 1980s.

Some of the improvements include:

A multi-year paving project that will make it easier for those using strollers and wheelchairs.

A brand-new tub for the Three Men in a Tub, the butcher, the backer and the candlestick maker.

Jack and the Beanstalk returns with a new beanstalk and pea pods.

Improvement are coming to the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs area and Good Ship Lollipop.

The lake is also getting “refreshed” and the Windmill and waterwheels in the center of the lake will be in motion again.

Story Book Forest isn’t the only area that will get improvements.

New bumper cars are coming to the Skooters ride, a restoration project will continue at the Carousel in Olde Idlewild and more.

Idlewild opens for the 2024 season on Saturday, May 18. SoakZone opens on Saturday, May 25.
