A 3-year-old boy is recovering after falling from a third-floor window of a Lewiston apartment building over the weekend.

The boy’s parents called 911 about 2 p.m. Saturday when they realized their son had fallen from a window of their Pierce Street apartment, according to the Sun Journal .

The boy was conscious when first responders arrived, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for “bumps and bruises,” the newspaper reported.

“The child is expected to recover,” Police Chief David St. Pierre told the Sun Journal on Monday.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services has been informed and will be updated once the police reports are completed, as is standard in cases like this involving children, St. Pierre told the Sun Journal.
