LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – On Friday evening, May 3, the Dutch Haus Restaurant at the Elks Club in Lewisburg hosted a “Patrick Morrisey for Governor” event.

The night also featured a keynote speaker, national political figure and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Around 100 or so people showed for the free event including Morrisey’s wife and daughter, and US Senate candidate, Congressman Alex Mooney.

The night started with a group prayer, and everyone stood to say the pledge of allegiance. After that, Morrisey was introduced, and he took to the podium.

“This has been a very good week,” Morrisey said.

“And I couldn’t think of a better place to share what’s been going on in the great state of West Virginia than right here with my friends in Greenbrier County,” he continued.

“Today, a liberal news station reported that my race for governor, we are ahead by seven points. And that’s good polling numbers, but we can’t let up. We have 11 days left to go knock on every door,” Morrisey stated.

Morrisey went on and talked at length about Title IX and protecting women’s sports and keeping biological males from participating, which drew loud applause from the crowd.

“I have stated that we will take the case of men competing in women’s sports all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court and we will win,” Morrisey said, drawing more applause.

He also talked about the electric vehicle policy that would force 68 percent of Americans to have an electric vehicle by the year 2032. Morrisey discussed how electric charging stations would work at the very time “they” are trying to wipe out coal and gas.

A few minutes later, Ramaswamy came to the podium.

“How about a round of applause for the next governor of West Virginia right here. I love this man,” Ramaswamy said of Morrisey as he walked up.

Ramaswamy wasted no time in getting to his witty banter ways by saying, “we are in the middle of a war in this country, and I don’t say that lightly, it does not give me pleasure to use words like this.”

It is a war between those of us who love the United States of America and our ideals, and the fringe minority of those who hate this country and what we stand for,” he added.

Ramaswamy spent the rest of his speech politicking for everyone’s vote to go to Morrisey. He also raved about Morrisey’s ability to take cases to the highest of levels and win and highlighted the famed case West Virginia vs. EPA.

The former presidential candidate also mentioned the reason he has gotten into politics was that he has two sons, and he wants to leave this country for them better than it was when he was growing up. He has multiple booming businesses and said he would have stayed focused on those had he not stepped up into the political scene.

Finally, Ramaswamy encouraged the crowd to have courage. Courage, in his mind, is the most important thing to have in today’s political climate. He explained to the crowd that having the courage to stand up for and say what you believe in and correct the wrongdoings is what will get this country back on the right track.

The event ended around 6:20 p.m. with the crowd singing “God Bless America” and then Morrisey and Ramaswamy left the Dutch Haus and headed to the Greenbrier Hotel for another function after he (VR) briefly took pictures and selfies with some attendees.
