This Ohio BBQ Burger Is So Popular It Leaves Everything Else On The Grill Behind
Athens smells different when Kiser’s smokers are rolliAthens smells different on the days when Kiser’s smokers are rolling, and I don’t mean in the vague, romantic way people talk about “barbecue in the air,” I mean in the very specific way hickory seems to write itself across East State Street and pull you forward before you’ve even decided you’re hungry, until you’re standing at Kiser’s Barbeque, 355 E State St, Athens, OH 45701, wondering how a smell can feel this direct.

El Parian Steaks & Tequila impresses reporter Jeff Barron
LANCASTER − Fans of Mexican food in Fairfield County are certainly in luck as there are several good Mexican restaurants to choose from. That includes El Parian Steaks & Tequila at 123 N. Broad St. in the former Shaw's building. I had lunch there recently for our "Dine with Jeff" series and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a vegetarian fajita, which is my go-to choice when eating Mexican food. It came with refried beans, rice and a Mexican salad. It was fantastic. But I first want to talk about the service. I was eating probably seven or eight minutes after I entered the restaurant. Great service is usually a hallmark of a Mexican restaurant, and El Parian was no exception. I have no idea how they prepare the food so quickly, but they do. My plate of vegetables came steaming hot, which I love. It included peppers, broccoli and mushrooms and was great. As a bonus for me, I didn't get overly full, which was perfect. By the time dinner time rolled around, I was ready to eat again. Great meal that digested fast. I'll take it. Plus, the bill was only $15.81, which includes the tip. Good food at

Now, the business is taking part in a move, but don't worry, it isn't going too far. The business is known for products like boba, cheesecake, cookies, macarons and more, but the move to Market Square will allow them to expand their selection to include savory items for breakfast and lunch. Chabad at Ohio University holds menorah lighting on first day of Hanukkah
On Sunday, Athens’ Jewish community held a special event to commemorate the first day of Hanukkah. Overseen by Raibbi Levi Raichik, the director of Chabad at Ohio University , the event featured a potluck meal and fun activities for children such as making menorah-shaped s’mores and playing Hanukkah-themed party games. The most important part of the event was the lighting of the menorah, the ceremonial candelabra with eight branches. On each night of Hanukkah, another branch is lit until all eight branches are lit. Despite a Level 2 snow emergency in Athens County and temperatures dipping down into the single digits, the atmosphere at Sunday’s event was warm and festive as guests shared food and enjoyed each other’s company during the holidays. While the City of Athens, Athens County and the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce (AACC) put up a giant menorah near the Community Tree on the corner of Court and Washington Street, no lighting ceremony was held on account of most Ohio University students having gone home for the holidays. Unlike other Jewish holidays which commemorate the survival of the Jewish people against those who wished to do them harm, Hanukkah commemorates the survival of the Jewish faith
