    Loudoun County hosting electronics recycling event

    LEESBURG, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Loudoun County will be hosting an electronics recycling event this Saturday.

    From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 18, people can bring their electronics to the Leesburg Park and Ride at 41951 Gourley Transit Dr.

    These are the types of electronics that will be accepted:

    • Televisions
    • Desktop computers
    • Computer monitors
    • Laptops
    • Servers
    • Mainframes
    • Circuit boards
    • Hard drives
    • Modems
    • Printers
    • Fax machines
    • Scanners
    • Copiers
    • Cetwork cables
    • Cower cables
    • Extension cords
    • Electrical wire
    • Holiday lights
    • Uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
    • Surge protectors
    • Answering machines
    • Microwave ovens
    • Calculators
    • Smart phones
    • Desk phones
    • Pagers
    • Stereo, video receivers and DVR/CD/DVD/VHS players
    • Video game consoles
    • Cables
    • Stereo speakers
    • Radios
    • Small household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, toaster ovens, coffee makers, blenders, hair dryers, curling irons and clothes irons

    These items will not be accepted:

    • Refrigerators and freezers
    • Dehumidifiers
    • Air conditioners
    • Stoves
    • Washers and dryers
    • Fluorescent light bulbs
    • Smoke alarms
    • Mercury thermostats
    • Household batteries and vehicle batteries
    • Ballasts
    • Light bulbs
    • Smoke detectors
    • Microwave glass plates
    • Aerosols
    • Any equipment that contains mercury, chemicals, asbestos, radioactive components or liquid fuel

    A limit of five items will be accepted. A 12” x 12” x 12” box filled with small items such as cables, phones and cameras will be considered one item.

    Fees will be charged for the following items:

    • $20 per television
    • $60 per console television or projection TV
    • $20 per computer monitor
    • $7.50 per computer hard drive for on-site shredding upon request
    • $20 per computer hard drive for on-site shredding upon request
    • $12 per hard drive for off-site shredding upon request for iPhones and tablets.
