ROME — A 32-year-old man is accused of choking his neighbor's teenage grandson on West Court Street, according to the Rome Police Department. Police said Brian J. Townsend, of Rome, let himself into his upstairs neighbor's apartment around 7:23 p.m. Sept. 9 at their residence in the 600 block of W. Court Street. The upstairs resident was asleep on the couch at the time and said he awoke to find Townsend in his apartment.
Deerfield man accused of threatening to kill police officer
ROME — A Deerfield man is accused of threatening to shoot and kill a Rome Police officer during a dispute investigation, according to the Rome Police Department. Police said Anthony G. Getti, 28, of Deerfield, repeatedly telephoned and threatened to kill a Rome woman and her children at her West Thomas Street home on July 29. Police said Getti used to babysit the woman's children. The victim called 911 and a police officer went to her home to investigate.
