LEDYARD, Conn. (WTNH) – Two Ledyard residents were charged Wednesday with animal cruelty, according to Ledyard police.

Quiana L. Durham, 33, and Precious Michaud, 28, were both charged with five counts of cruelty to animals after turning themselves in on active arrest warrants.

The charges stem from a call police said Durham made to Ledyard Animal Control the morning of April 6, demanding they come and take possession of “abandoned animals.”

When animal control arrived, they said they found five various types of animals in extremely poor condition and in poor living conditions.

All the animals were seized by animal control.

The suspects were released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and are both scheduled to appear at the New London Superior Court on May 16.
