This Charming Texas Bookstore Is the Kind of Place You Visit for One Book and Leave With Ten
Bill Clinton and Dan Rather have both signed books at this independent shop. Yet the same store also hands out handwritten staff picks and runs kids’ storytimes. I love that mix of big-name events and small, personal touches. It feels grand and homey at once, which is a hard trick to pull off.

Austin City Limits music festival
Austin, Texas, held the Austin City Limits music festival’s weekend two, celebrating 25 years and counting. Rather than a mud fest, this weekend was full of dust and astonishing energy. Bringing back the nostalgia again for weekend two from live performances from the Chainsmokers, Lorde, Blood Orange, Natasha Bedingfield, and Twenty-One Pilots. While also having current artists who are doing well in the music industry, including Charlie XCX, Young Miko, Suki Waterhouse, It’s Murph, Audrey Hobert, Sofi Tucker, Kings of Leon, Rüfüs Du Sol, and Levity. These artists’ genres range from rave, indie, and hip hop to Latino music. The setlist for this year’s ACL was elite. The enthusiasm every artist brought to that stage was breathtaking.

Former “Fixer Upper” and “Restoration Road” star Clint Harp is taking on a new kind of project: a nearly 100-mile run and ride from Waco to the Texas State Capitol to support local immigrant families. In this interview, Harp and Dr. Mary Landon Darden from HOTNIR—the Heart of Texas Network for Immigrant Rights—and its partner organization Refugia explain the challenges immigrant families are facing, how their groups provide support, and why Harp chose this effort now. They also share what Sunday’s run and ride will look like, how viewers can follow his journey, and how to donate to help fund their work.
