JONES COUNTY, Miss. ( WHLT ) – A Jones County woman was arrested after a deputy was injured during a chase, authorities said.
The Laurel Leader Call reported the incident started on Sunday, May 12 during a welfare check. Deputies said they were called to a home in the 1000 block of Poole Creek Road.
According to investigators, Julie Robinson, 31, was found sitting in a vehicle when they arrived at the location. They said Robinson drove away from the scene, led deputies on a chase, and later drove back to the residence on Poole Creek Road.
Officials said when Robinson stopped, deputies removed her from the vehicle. She allegedly continued to fight before she was tasered and arrested.
During the chase, investigators said one cruiser crashed, and a deputy suffered a broken hand.
Robinson was transported to a local hospital for a psychological evaluation, and officials said she refused the evaluation. She was taken to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
According to the jail’s website, Robinson was charged with felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, simple assault on a police officer, failure to comply, destroying county property, and reckless driving. Bond has not been set for Robinson.
