Two Arrested in Needles for Illicit Goods; One Jailed, the Other Cited and Released
In a recent police sweep in Needles, CA, two suspects were busted for carrying illicit goods early Wednesday morning. Cops descended upon the 3500 block of Needles Highway while responding to a call for service when they encountered Jeremy Anderson and Elizabeth Platt, both 32, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
MALC softball makes run to state semifinal
PHEONIX — The Mohave Accelerated Learning Center softball team completed a tremendous season, making a run to the state semifinals. After winning 15 games during the regular season, the Lady Patriots won their first playoff game to advance to Phoenix, where they beat Morenci 7-6 after Tanner Banks hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth. She finished with four RBIs and a single short of the cycle. Lucy Wickham, Sara King and Bronte Gee also plated runs, while Megan Jones earned the win, pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Motorcyclist identified in fatal Saturday crash as 74-year-old Bullhead City woman
BULLHEAD CITY — A woman killed in a motorcycle accident on Saturday has been identified by the Bullhead City Police Department. Charleen Mae Babcock, 74, of Bullhead City, died after her 2009 Harley Davidson tricycle motorcycle crashed at about 6:10 p.m. into a curb at Highway 95 and Baseline Road.
Bullhead City teenager pleads guilty to drive-by shooting
KINGMAN — The second Bullhead City teenager charged along with two others in the June 2023 drive-by shooting at Rotary Park accepted a plea agreement Monday. Anthony Donnelly Kemp, 17, pleaded guilty to drive by shooting. Charges include attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of discharging a firearm at a structure were dismissed.
Donations sought for Senior Campus expansion
BULLHEAD CITY — The Bullhead City Senior Campus is expanding — and the city is seeking help in getting the most use out of the bigger-and-better facility. "The new Senior Campus Adult Activities Wing will add 7,700 square feet of indoor activity and meeting space and 1,300 square feet of covered outdoor patio space to the Senior Campus," the city said in an email. "This newly enhanced and inviting space will bring people together for socialization and activities, enhancing the health of our seniors and strengthening our community. We envision a beautiful, welcoming space for all seniors."

MOHAVE VALLEY — A group voicing opposition to a second proposed site for a gas-fired electricity plant has scheduled a public meeting today for residents to voice their concerns and opinions. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. in the Willow Valley Clubhouse, 549 Gordon Drive in Mohave Valley.

The Roadrunner Resort & Floating Dock Bar suffered damage from the weekend storms only two weeks after re-opening to the public after 18 months of construction. According to Garrett Scholl, new owner of the bar, the roof of a storage facility on the property was picked up by the wind, flying through the power lines and landing on a couple cars. Additionally, a urinal was ripped off the wall of the renovated structure, but was fixed within 15 minutes.

Lincoln County put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Laughlin Cougars as the Lincoln County Lynx made off with a 20-2 victory. The win was familiar territory for Lincoln County who now have eight in a row.

River Valley baseball season ends in opening playoff game
MOHAVE VALLEY —The River Valley baseball team had an impressive season, but it ended on Tuesday in the Dust Devils' opening playoff game. The Dust Devils lost 9-6 against Crimson despite scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Dreyton Gleason, Mickey Smith and Hunter Koehler all pitched while Smith led the way offensively with three RBIs. Koehler and Kai Cornell also drove in runs with Mikey Gonzalez, Wyatt Maxwell and Jeremiah Putt also had hits.

Desert Storm festivities continued into Friday as Parade of Power participants cruised the Bridgewater Channel. The event drew thousands of spectators to the shoreline and the Island. Onlookers lining the London Bridge and the Channel viewed many power boats in Friday’s procession. A poker run following the parade brought participants to various locations across Lake Havasu. Laughlin baseball and softball swept in doubleheaders
LAUGHLIN – The Laughlin High School baseball and softball teams were both in action last week for a pair of doubleheaders. The baseball team competed on April 22, losing to Awaken Christian 14-2 and 11-1. In both games, the Cougars tossed a scoreless first inning but went on to fall big before being swept against Lake Mead Academy and were outscored 44-2 to fall to 10-12 this season.
