Campbell was also wanted by the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives on charges, deputies said.

On May 13, patrol agents with the Dillon County Violent Crime Task Force noticed Campbell driving a tan 1995 Chevy Caprice traveling north on Highway 301.

Agents followed Campbell’s car as it made a right-hand turn onto E. Palmetto Street and traveled down the center line. At this time, law enforcement attempted to stop his vehicle, but Campbell refused to stop the car and a brief pursuit began, deputies said.

Campbell fled from law enforcement in his vehicle briefly before coming to a dead-end road and jumping out of the car with a bag and a small child in his arms, deputies said.

Campbell than began running through a wooded area on foot.

Law enforcement went to the other side of the wooded area and eventually caught Campbell and found the small child behind a residence, deputies said.

Law enforcement arrested Campbell without any further incident and found the bag he had which contained illegal narcotics, deputies said.
