Motorcyclist injured after crash involving pickup truck

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash involving a pickup truck, according to police.

It happened on Friday shortly after 11 a.m. on North Jones Boulevard north of West Bromley Avenue.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck was traveling northbound on North Jones Boulevard in the right travel lane just north of West Bromley Avenue, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

A 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 also traveled northbound on North Jones Boulevard south of West Bromley Avenue in the right travel lane. The Kawasaki failed to use due care as the Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck slowed to turn right into a private drive, police said.

A collision occurred when the Kawasaki rider attempted to slow down abruptly. While doing so, the Kawasaki overturned on its right side and slid into the passenger side of the Chevrolet Silverado Pickup Truck, according to police.

Responding emergency medical personnel transported the Kawasaki rider by ground ambulance to the hospital with injuries determined to be life-threatening, police said.

The pickup truck’s driver remained at the collision scene and showed no signs of impairment. The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
