Man enters guilty plea for murder of 2-year-old in 2021

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A 31-year-old man formally entered a guilty plea Thursday for the murder of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son nearly 3 years ago.

Terrell Rhodes admitted to police that he killed Amari Nicholson back in May of 2021, beating the child for urinating on himself.

Nicholson originally told police that a woman claiming to be a family member took the boy, which led to a community-wide search. That ended when the boy’s body was found not far away from where Rhodes and his girlfriend lived.

Rhodes was not only charged with killing Amari and hiding his body near a dumpster, but of assaulting a police officer and briefly taking her gun while in one of Metro Police’s interrogation rooms.

Under terms of the agreement, Rhodes will get anywhere from 20 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced in July.
