    Suspect in Lansing double murder in court

    LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The man accused of shooting and killing two people in Lansing faced a judge Thursday morning.

    Dennis Whaley, 51, faces two counts of open murder and four firearms charges and is being held without bond for the shooting deaths of Jason McKenzie, 50 and Christine Cambric, 53.

    McKenzie and Cambric were found in a home in the 500 block of Woodrow Ave. April 18. The discovery prompted a large police response .

    After three days of searching, police tracked him down and arrested him on April 21st in Crego Park in Lansing.

    Whaley’s defense attorney told the court a “psych evaluation” is necessary to see if his client is stable enough to stand trial.

    The judge agreed and said the exam must be completed within two months. Whaley remains locked up in the Ingham County Jail.
