LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Lansing-based dance and volunteer group decided to give back to the community by cleaning up Adado Riverfront Park.

The “Dazzling Diamonds” will be performing at the park’s amphitheater this June. Members of the group saw an opportunity to return the favor.

Volunteers of all ages came with trash bags, buckets, brooms, and more to clean up the space. The group’s leaders and parents said it was the perfect way to show the kids that community service is important.

“We are really big with the dazzling diamonds in fostering sisterhood and connectedness, and this is an opportunity where we’re not dancing, but we’re getting into the community,” said Coach Dominique Devereaux.

“I hope when they perform, they feel another level sense of pride, like they were just here a little over a month ago, cleaning up the space,” said Devereaux.

The group will preform at the park on June 29, as a part of the annual “Black Girl Day of Play.”
