Prepapalooza: Big events on deck in Greater Lansing as calendar hits May

We've arrived at the final full month of the Michigan High School Athletic Association sports calendar for the 2023-24 school year.

And things are about to pick up in Greater Lansing with the CAAC Cup on the horizon for girls soccer and the Greater Lansing Hall of Fame Softball Classic and Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic close to unveiling their fields in the next few weeks and the Honor Roll track meet taking place this month

Several area baseball and softball teams who have a shot to be part of the area showcases added to their success with key wins over the past week. That includes state-ranked and CMAC-leading Laingsburg softball and the Lansing Catholic softball and Olivet baseball teams, who are among top contenders in the CAAC White. Okemos baseball also picked up a pair of big league twinbill sweeps and is among the top contenders in the CAAC Blue.
