PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — Kunzler, a pork processing company based in Lancaster with plants in Blair County, has been bought out by another Pennsylvania-based pork processor.

Clemens Food Group, based in Hatfield, Pa., has acquired the Kunzler company in a “strategic purchase” to deliver exceptional products while joining forces with another long-standing, family-owned Pennsylvania pork company.

The acquisition will add three existing Kunzler plants to the Clemens Food Group family — one in Lancaster and two in Tyrone.

Clemens is currently the fifth-largest pork processor in the U.S., with more than 5,000 employees in multiple states.

“As Chris Kunzler sought a successor to carry forward his family’s legacy after more than 123 years, I’m honored Clemens Food Group emerged as their ideal steward as there are many similarities between our cultures and commitment to excellence,” Brad Clemens, President of Clemens Food Group said.
