Eagles Edge Rival Savages in Five-Set-Thriller

It took all five Thursday at Keota High School in the latest volleyball rivalry between the Eagles and Sigourney Savages with the home team coming out on top. Keota took the contest 25-19, 25-15, 23-25-, 22-25 and 15-12. After winning the first two, the Eagles were a pair of points away from sweeping the Savages before Sigourney bounced back to erase a 23-18 deficit and win set three, take set four, and grab an early lead in set five. Following the contest, Eagle seniors Kaylee Kindred, Jaylah Redlinger and Emily Conger talked with KCII Sports about the win. “Our energy was really high and we just knew we wanted the set more than they did. We knew we had it in us and we pulled it off. We knew that we had to get it right from the start and have high energy all around. We couldn’t put our heads down to get the sets. We were really positive and really excited to play this game. It was very intense and crazy. We gave it everything we had and we had each other’s back through it all, no matter what. Even if we lost a point, we just got right back up because we knew that we wanted it. We left it all on the court and played our very best. It feels like we all thought we should have finished it earlier so we wanted it extra at that point. This means a lot since we play them all the time and they are very competitive just like we are and they bring a good crowd. We do the same. We just had it in us more tonight and I’m so glad to end that game the way we did being seniors. It’s been a big goal for us this year and previous years, and we just knew that we really wanted to finish it off this year. I don’t think we have beaten them for a while so it felt pretty good!”
