Couple charged with raping pre-schooler in Pennsylvania home as woman hunted

A couple has been charged with raping a pre-schooler in their Pennsylvania home. John Dehart, 56, and Sarah Miller, 34, are charged with sex crimes against a child at a home in East Hempfield Township from 2011 until 2013.

The abuse was reported to police on December 1, 2023, by a witness in a separate investigation . Interviews that followed revealed the abuse took place when the victim was four to six years old.

John, originally from Washington, was arrested and taken into custody in Philadelphia on April 18 and extradited to Lancaster County. Police are still looking to find Sarah, whose whereabouts are unknown.

It is believed Sarah may also be going by Sara and using the last name Souder. Her last known address was in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, and police are seeking information on where she might be.

Meanwhile, John's bail was set at $1 million. He remains in Lancaster County Prison and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 21. John is also charged with statutory sexual assault , involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, and terroristic threats .

Sarah is also charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, indecent assault, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children .
