The discovery was made at a home on the 17000 block of Encina Path, with police sent to the property at 11:11 p.m. after receiving a report of a "significant amount of blood" at the property from a family member.

Ten minutes later, Rosemount PD received a report of an unoccupied suspicious vehicle on the 3700 block of 148th Street, with the vehicle associated with the suspect.

"After a short search of the area, the suspect was located in a backyard and taken into custody at approximately 11:51 p.m.," Lakeville PD said.

The suspect was suffering from self-inflicted injuries and was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he remains in custody.
