LAKEVIEW, Pa (WKBN) – Lakeview Track & Field discus thrower Kyndra Seddon broke a decades old school record in an invitational track meet, April 16.

The track & field star broke a Lakeview school record with a disc throw of 134’8″. The previous mark was held by former Lakeview state champion, Ginny Wilson, who held the record for 42 years.

Lakeview track & field coach Aaron Armstrong said the record-breaking performance was one of the best he’s ever seen.

“I kind of muttered to myself like, that’s going to do it,” said Armstrong. “Then after the measurement was read, I started hooting and hollering.”

Seddon had high hopes to start the season, becoming the 2nd All-Time longest disc thrower at Lakeview in late March.

In a meet before she broke the record, the Sailor star took third place. Seddon said the performance did not sit well with her.

“I had a meet where I kind of, I wouldn’t say fell through, but I should have paid more attention to what I was doing,” said Seddon. “It was just kind of like a wake up call, like you need to get it back together.”

Seddon said if not for the third place performance, she would have never broken the record.

“I was like, everybody thinks I’m not as good as I really am,” said Seddon. “I was like, I really got to show everybody how good I am.”

She broke the decades old record by over four feet. Wilson’s original discus throw record at Lakeview was 130’1″.

According to coach Armstrong, she is seeded first in District 10 and and second in the state.

“She’s an amazing kid, probably the hardest working kid I’ve ever coached,” said Armstrong.

The Junior said her school record was a big step but she is not finished yet.

“It would be great to move on to states and I know I definitely can do it,” said Seddon. “I just need to put in the work to stay consistent and keep getting better here. Not stay satisfied with how I threw.”

Lakeview track & field has four remaining meets before the district tournament. Seddon hopes to qualify and perform in the PIAA Track & Field Championships.
