A Twin Peaks restaurant is expected to replace the former Smokey Bones restaurant on U.S. 98 in Lakeland, according to a company spokeswoman.

"Smokey Bones' parent company is Fat Brands, which also owns Twin Peaks," said Charline Demosthene a spokeswomen with Smokey Bones. "They have decided to close the Lakeland location and redesign it to become Twin Peaks soon."

Both restaurant chains are listed as casual eateries owned by FAT Brands Inc., a publicly traded corporation registered in Delaware.

A check with the City of Lakeland shows an active building permit for alteration of an existing restaurant for a new 7,886-square-foot restaurant. The city issued the permit on April 10 for the $900,000 commercial building project.

The permit said the project includes replacement of the interior and exterior finishes with expansions to the bar and bathrooms.

City and county records list EAC Irrevocable Trust as the property owner. The restaurant outparcel is located in the Lakeland Park Center.

According to its LinkedIn page, FAT Brands is a global franchising company that acquires, markets and develops fast casual and casual dining restaurant concepts around the world.

The company owns 18 restaurant brands, including: Round Table Pizza, Fatburger, Marble Slab Creamery, Johnny Rockets, Great American Cookies, Hot Dog on a Stick, Buffalo’s Cafe & Express, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Pretzelmaker, Elevation Burger, Yalla Mediterranean, Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses, Twin Peaks, Fazoli's, Native Grill & Wings, and Smokey Bones.

FAT Brands has franchised over 2,300 units worldwide with more than 760 franchisees. It has sales of $2.1 billion, its website said.
