With aid from a drone and a K-9 team, Lake Oswego police officers arrested two people who were suspected of stealing a car early Tuesday morning.

Victor Delgado-Soto, 30, of Salem, and 42-year-old Hortencia Lozano-Rangel of Woodburn each face charges of felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and three misdemeanors: unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, eluding on foot and conspiracy.

According to the release, a caller reported their gray Lexus stolen at 5:30 a.m. from the Oswego Bay Condos on Jean Road. Their work van had also been stolen and they saw both cars leaving the area together.

“Officers developed information that led them to the area of Lake Haven Drive and Cobb Way, where they found the Lexus in the middle of the road. A detective saw the female driver of the stolen Lexus run from the car and leave the area in the stolen van,” the release stated.

The van was then found unoccupied on Alder Circle near South Shore Boulevard. With guidance from the thermal camera on the drone — which was operated by a Milwaukie police officer — the K-9 team found Delgado-Soto hiding under a furniture cover in a backyard on Alder Circle. He was taken into custody without incident, according to the release, and Lozano-Rangel was found hiding under a tarp in a different yard. She was also arrested without incident.
