Avenging a previous loss to rival Lodi in late April, the Poynette softball team downed the Blue Devils 6-4 in eight innings on Thursday, May 2.

Pitcher Kassidy McCaffery struck out nine and allowed four unearned runs for the Pumas, 12-4 overall and 4-2 in Capitol North Conference play. She gave up eight hits and a walk.

For Lodi, Bailey Stark pitched, giving up five earned runs and fanning five, while allowing seven hits.

Leading the way at the plate for Poynette were McCaffery, who went 3-for-5, and Karly Rivette, who finished 2-for-4.

Poynette lost a pitchers’ duel on Tuesday, April 30, falling to Stevens Point Pacelli at home 1-0.
