Baseball: Lake Mills takes lead in 5th, pays back Lodi, 3-2

Winning pitcher Brody Henderson scored the go-ahead run on a double off Cooper Murphy's bat as Lake Mills' baseball team salvaged a split with Lodi, winning 3-2 at Campus Field on Thursday, May 2.

Henderson got the wheels turning in the Lake Mills fifth inning with a double to the fence in right-center field. Murphy dug in next, doubling on a line shot into left that gave the L-Cats a 2-1 lead. Wyatt Werner followed with a run-scoring single on a ground ball to right.

Henderson worked a 1-2-3 sixth to reach 95 pitches and was relieved by Hunter Frohmader for the seventh. Frohmader made things interesting, first striking out Caleb Lord looking before giving up a single to Mason Breunig and walking Chase Stanek on four pitches. He punched out leadoff man Dakota Franklin looking on three pitches before Paxton Wyman's RBI single up the middle made it 3-2. Frohamder got Kale Schneider to fly out to left field on a first pitch to end it and earn the save.

Henderson allowed a run on two hits, striking out six over six innings to earn the decision for the L-Cats (7-6, 2-1 in conference).

Mason Keith scored on an error by Franklin at shortstop for the game's first run in the fourth. Lodi (8-7, 2-3) tied it up in the fifth as Stanek led off the frame with a double, taking third when Franklin bunted for a hit. He was then picked off third base. Franklin later came around on a ground out to make it 1-all.
