Tiny home up for silent auction, built by CTE construction students
HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - You now have the chance to own a tiny home constructed by students. The Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) has an 8 by 20 by 13-foot home up for silent auction. Students of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Construction Technology program put the home together.
MDOT to inspect multiple western UP bridges this week, starting with Portage Lake Lift Bridge
HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is performing routine inspections on several western U.P. bridges this week. Inspections include the Portage Lake Lift Bridge in Houghton. Crews will inspect the bridge’s deck condition, substructure, and subsystems from Monday through Wednesday. The inspections will also result in lane closures.
Farm on the Town Day returns for its 3rd year in Hancock
HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - The annual Farm on the Town event in Hancock invites families to ask local farmers questions. Activities will be set up in the parking lot of Sunflower Books and Coffee on Saturday. Guests like a beekeeper will show a beehive frame and honey. Families can also learn how a spinner makes yarn from wool.

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) - Chicago Beefs in Houghton is preparing to close its doors on Shelden Avenue in Houghton next week. The business plans to have its last day on Monday, or when its final shipment of meats runs dry. It will be making a new home in downtown Marquette on the lower level of Masonic Square Mall.

HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - You can now register for Finnish language classes in Hancock running throughout June. They will be held at the Finnish American Heritage Center and taught by Becky Luoma, a Finland resident.
