Handt to interview for administrator job Thursday

The interview date has been confirmed for interim city administrator Kristina Handt for the city administrator position this Thursday, March 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the city center in council chambers. The council will interview Handt until 4:15 p.m., when a community stakeholder panel will also interview Handt. It’s estimated the interview, moderated by Bart Fischer of DDA HR, Inc., will wrap up at 5 p.m. At that time there will be an informal reception from 5 to 6 p.m. when members of the community can engage with Handt. All interviews are open to the public, which is encouraged to attend.

The council will then vote in a special meeting on Monday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m. at council chambers whether to name Handt as the city’s next administrator.

Handt was named interim city administrator on Jan. 16 moment after the council fired former administrator Patrick Casey. Handt had been the administrator in Scandia, and for the last roughly ten years, has been the administrator in Lake Elmo before her firing in November.

Since then, she has been looking for employment and has been in the pipeline of interviews for multiple cities; that was the reason for the Forest Lake council to expedite her interview with Forest Lake. Handt had also previously expressed interest in the role in Forest Lake.
