Free child seat check planned Saturday; see the details

LAKE CHARLES, La. — The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, in cooperation with CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital and Louisiana State Police Troop D, are providing free child passenger safety seat checks Saturday in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The event takes place in conjunction with the Children’s Miracle Network Family Day and NICU Reunion at CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital, located at 4200 Nelson Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians are conducting free inspections and assisting with proper installation of child safety seats.

Child safety seats and booster seats, when used properly, save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates child restraints have saved the lives of more than 11,000 children under the age of five have since 1975.

It is important caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt – every trip, every time.
