Prep roundup: Laingsburg softball sweeps Sacred Heart in state-ranked matchup

LAINGSBURG 13, MOUNT PLEASANT SACRED HEART 0 / LAINGSBURG 6, MOUNT PLEASANT SACRED HEART 2

MOUNT PLEASANT — Bella Latuszek and Savannah Stirm each drove in three runs and Ashley Bilas had two RBI and scored four runs to lead the Division 3 No. 4-ranked Wolfpack in their opening win over Division 4 No. 3 Sacred Heart. Addyson Buchin allowed just three hits and struck out 11 while tossing a complete game shutout in Game 1. Latuszek went 3-for-3 with three RBI and Bila had a double and three runs in finale to help Laingsburg compete the sweep.

FOWLERVILLE 4, MASON 1 / FOWLERVILLE 8, MASON 7

FOWLERVILLE — Tori Briggs went 3-for-3 with a triple, home run and three RBI and scattered three hits and struck out seven while tossing the complete game in the circle for Fowlerville in its opening win. Tommi Kleinschmidt drove in two runs and scored twice and Meadow Browne had a solo homer to help the Gladiators finish off the sweep with the Game 2 win. Avery Beach was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs and Hailey Kruizenga was 2-for-4 with three runs in the finale for Mason.

PORTLAND 11, IONIA 1 / PORTLAND 20, IONIA 1

PORTLAND — Rylee Miller had six hits, five RBI and five runs to lead the Raiders to a pair of CAAC White victories over Ionia. Bailee Fish finished with three hits and three RBI and Claire Lyon added five hits and five RBI for Portland in the twinbill.

LANSING CATHOLIC 16, CHARLOTTE 1 / LANSING CATHOLIC 19, CHARLOTTE 0

Taylor Dunneback capped a big doubleheader by hitting a grand slam and two-run home run in the same inning while helping the Cougars complete a CAAC White sweep of Charlotte. Dunneback had six RBI in the finale affter finishing with two hits in the opener. Austyn Arellano and Addison each had two hits in the opener, while Avery Dunneback was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI in the finale for Lansing Catholic (5-1).

EATON RAPIDS 9, LAKEWOOD 8 / LAKEWOOD 14, EATON RAPIDS 7

Mallory Smith hit a walk-off two-run home run as part of a 3-for-5 performance that lifted the Greyhounds past Lakewood in the opener of the CAAC White twinbill. Ari Brooks earned the pitching win for Eaton Rapids and struck out 13 while added three hits and three RBI offensively. Smith had a homer, triple and two RBI in the Game 2 loss for the Greyhounds.

BASEBALL

PERRY 12, STOCKBRIDGE 7

STOCKBRIDGE — Joey McGraw-Allen went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI to lead the Ramblers to a road win over Stockbridge. Nolan Krupp and Memphis Schrauben each finished with two hits and a RBI for Perry. Noah Sandecki went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored for the Panthers.

MASON 4, FOWLERVILLE 3 / MASON 8, FOWLERVILLE 2

FOWLERVILLE — Colton McCaleb picked up the win in game one and went 2-for-2 in game two as the Bulldogs picked up a pair of CAAC Red wins. Travis Davis notched three hits and an RBI and Isaac Johnson finished with three hits and two RBI for Mason.

CHARLOTTE 7, LANSING CATHOLIC 1 / LANSING CATHOLIC 2, CHARLOTTE 0

Nathan Penfield and Landon Jackson each drove in two runs and scored a run to help the Orioles earm a doubleheader split. Penfield allowed an unearned run and struck out six to earn the pitching win. Drew Diehl hurled a complete game shutout and allowed just three hits and struck out 11 for Lansing Catholic in its win. Alex Fernandez went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the Cougars’ win.

LAKEWOOD 5, EATON RAPIDS 3 / LAKEWOOD 4, EATON RAPIDS 3

Landon Makley earned the pitching win in the opener, striking out seven while not allowing and earned run and Chanse Courtney picked up the win in the finale for the Vikings in their CAAC White doubleheader sweep. Blake Price went 3-for-6 with three doubles, four RBI and two steals, Makley went 3-for-7 with a double and three RBI and Courtney had three hits that included a double for Lakewood (3-2, 3-1),

WILLIAMSTON 13, HASLETT 6 / WILLIAMSTON 12, HASLETT 7

WILLIAMSTON — Kaleb Nielson went 3-for-3 with three runs, Brayden Johnson was 3-for-4 with two runs and Hunter VanSickler was 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Hornets in their opening win over Haslett. Gulick drove in three runs and Hunter Harding was 3-for-3 to help Williamston complete the CAAC Red sweep with the Game 2 win.

ST. JOHNS 24, EASTERN 0 / ST. JOHNS 25, EASTERN 0

The Redwings scored 49 runs through two games to notch a pair of CAAC Red wins over Eastern. In game one, Jordan Huhn grabbed four hits and four RBI and Mason Zell notched four RBI and four runs in game two for St. Johns. P.J. Thelen tallied two hits for the Quakers.

OKEMOS 4, HARTLAND 3

HARTLAND — Brennan Walton earned the pitching win and Nik Greborunis recorded the save for the Wolves (4-3) in their nonleague win.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

CARSON CITY-CRYSTAL 101.5, FULTON 26, MERRILL 22.5

Damien Lankford won the 100 and 200 and Brendyn Patch won the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles to lead Carson City-Crystal to its tri-meet win.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

FULTON 52.5, CARSON CITY-CRYSTAL 41.5

Kaylie McCracken won the 3,200, Mary Beth Hyatt was the 1,600 champion and both ran a leg on the winning 3,200 relay to lead Carson City-Crystal. Addison Bolen was the shot put champion and part of the first place 1,600 relay for the Pirates.

GIRLS TENNIS

EAST LANSING 5, ST. JOHNS 3

The Trojans won three of the four doubles flights while recording a nonleague victory.

LANSING CATHOLIC 5, EATON RAPIDS 3

The Cougars picked up three singles wins to propel them to a CAAC White win over Eaton Rapids.
