Memorial Day 2024

The members of the Marine Corps League Detachment 1040 requests your assistance as they again place flags on the graves of veterans for Memorial Day 2024.

Please join them on Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2024 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Flags will be available for placement from 1:00 p.m. until all flags are placed. The ending time of course depends on the number of people who arrive to assist. They will have some metal devices to punch holes in the ground for the flag staffs, but you may want to bring a large screwdriver for that purpose because they are hoping that there will be more groups than devices.

You are also invited to return to Shadowlawn Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27 to assist in the collection of the flags. Some early risers do start the collection before 9:00 a.m., and that is fine, but they will have people collect the flags from 9:00 a.m until collection is complete.

The Marine Corps League Detachment 1040 will provide the flags and manage the placement of the flags at Shadowlawn.

DAV Chapter 31 will provide flags and manage the placement of flags at Restlawn on Friday, May 24, 2024.
