Danville Rolls Past Lebanon 42-13 in Sectional Opener
Undefeated Danville defeated Lebanon 42-13 in the sectional opener, pulling away with a decisive second-quarter run. Lebanon scored in the first half and again late, but couldn’t overcome missed opportunities and Danville’s ability to capitalize. The loss ends the Tigers’ season, though coach Josh Roder said the team made progress and gained valuable experience from younger players.

Letter: Yes on WWS referendum
I’m voting yes on the Westfield Washington Schools referendum and I urge my fellow Westfield residents to do the same. Since kindergarten, my son has had the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive in Westfield Washington Schools. Today, he’s a sophomore and I’m grateful for the excellent educational experience he’s received. Every child in Westfield deserves that same opportunity.

East Central Indiana high school football sectional opener scores, updates
The IHSAA football postseason is here. Every team is now 0-0. The Star Press will have extended coverage of a matchup between Yorktown (5-4) and Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (2-7) in Class 4A Sectional 20. The Tigers are a defending 4A sectional champion, but the Knights are the reigning Class 3A runner-up and are now playing up two classes from their enrollment size. Luers' record might indicate a weaker-than-usual team, but the Knights play a very tough schedule and have been one of the state's most consistent programs over the last few years, particularly in the postseason. Yorktown, meanwhile, is very banged up and finished the regular season with back-to-back losses to Pendleton Heights and Mt. Vernon. More: Yorktown football star's slaying allegedly a case of mistaken identity Three other East Central Indiana teams are involved in Sectional 20. Delta (4-5) will visit Class 4A No. 10 Logansport (9-0), Jay County (3-6) will host Marion (1-8), and Muncie Central (6-3) will get a rematch on the road with North Central Conference rival Kokomo (4-5). While the Eagles and Patriots just moved up from Class 3A to 4A, the Trojans of New Castle (3-6) made the opposite move from 4A to

Stop Using Your Children As Weapons
School advocates manipulate voters emotionally by framing tax opposition as anti-education. Letter: HSE worth the investment
I am the parent of two children who attend Hamilton Southeastern Schools. Last year, my daughter had the opportunity to visit Hub & Spoke along with all of the other HSE fifth graders through the Maker 5 study trip. The teacher-in-residence helped her and her classmates create a business model, which propelled her to start selling 3D printed fidget toys at the Fishers Farmers’ Market. What an invaluable learning experience.
