Jaguar fight never dies: Late rally lifts Flower Mound to regional quarterfinals sweep of Prosper
LITTLE ELM – Flower Mound senior catcher Zane Becker was upset with himself. With Prosper senior William Adimora facing a 2-2 count with two outs in a tie game in the bottom of the sixth inning, a pitch by Flower Mound senior Zack James went five-hole between Becker’s pads, allowing senior Nick Nava to sprint down the third-base line and slide into home plate to give the Eagles the lead.
Pirates sweep Hornets
It didn’t take long for the No. 1 Collinsville Pirates to dispatch Cooke County rival Muenster. Just 12 innings to be exact. Collinsville (33-2) extended its winning streak to 31 games with a two-game sweep of Muenster last week in the area round of the Class 2A state baseball playoffs at Denton High School. The Pirates won by scores of 9-2 and 11-1, respectively. They face Sam Rayburn in a one-game affair at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Z-Plex in Melissa.

Gunter may have won the coin flip for one game as opposed to a best of three series, but Whitesboro made sure that was the only thing that was lost last week. The Lady Bearcats pounded 13 hits and limited the Lady Tigers to just one hit in a 17-0 rout last Wednesday in a Class 3A region quarterfinal softball contest at Whitesboro High School.
