Nestled in the high country of the Rocky Mountains, Kremmling is an often-overlooked spot that is home to plenty of outdoorsy fun to be had. As visitors often notice, the town embodies the spirit of the Wild West.
1. Explore the rivers
The Colorado River and Blue River are must-visit spots during a trip to Kremmling. The Gore Canyon Whitewater Park is on the Colorado River at the BLM Pumphouse recreation site, and is a great site for both fishing, rafting, and kayaking. Remember – always wear your life jacket.
2. Go off-roading
With many miles of ATV and OHV trails in the surrounding area, Kremmling is known as the "motorsport capital of Grand County." Visitors not bringing their own machine can either rent an ATV, motorcycle ,or OHV for the day or sign up for a guided tour through a knowledgeable outfitter. Rabbit Ears Pass offers plenty of ATV and OHV trails.
3. Visit Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa
Only about a 20-minute drive from Kremmling, the Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa features 18 manmade pools fed by seven springs from the mountain. The resort also offers massages.
4. Check out Kremmling Fossil Ridge (or Cretaceous Ammonite Locality)
This site is home to the fossils of more than 100 invertebrate species, seemingly transporting visitors back 72.5 million years as they can see fossil specimens of tropical and subtropical mollusk.
5. Go hunting
Kremmling offers excellent hunting, from big game such as elk and deer to small game like dove and pheasant. According to the State of Colorado , the region has some of the best elk hunting in Colorado. And you'll get the upper Colorado River or the Gore Canyon as a stunning backdrop.
