Greene County to Host Health and Elder Abuse Awareness Fair
Greene County is gearing up to host a special event aimed at promoting health awareness and addressing elder abuse concerns within the community. The "Older Americans Month Health, Information, & Elder Abuse Awareness Fair" will take place on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Greene County Wellness Center located at 84 North Perry Dr., Snow Hill, NC 28580.
Greene County lifts boiled water advisory
GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Greene County announced on their Facebook page Wednesday morning that a boil water advisory has been lifted. Snow Hill residents living on Churchhill Road do not need to boil their water before consumption anymore.
Public assistance needed for Walstonburg store break-in information
The Greene County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for assistance in any information related to a breaking and entering that occurred at Lewis Food Mart located in Walstonburg, around 11:50 pm on 05/13/2024. The vehicle pictured was occupied by three individuals, two were covered and entered the store leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash money.

Three Kinston and Lenior County men are facing multiple drug charges
LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) -A six-month-long investigation into the sale of illegal drugs has landed three men in jail. Kinston police say James Brown Jr., 56, of Lenoir County, Thomas Washington, 56, of Kinston, and Kevin Newborn, 52, of Lenoir County, were arrested after three homes in Lenoir County were searched.
Kinston man dead after hit with car, driver turns himself in
KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - The Kinston Police Department says a man is facing a murder charge along with others after hitting and killing a man with a car. The police department says Christopher Peterson, 50, of Kinston, was hit by a car on April 28th around 11:30 p.m. Officials say he was taken to ECU Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later died because of those injuries.
Lenoir County enforcement targeting high crime and drug areas
A Deep Run man was arrested in Pink Hill Thursday for trafficking methamphetamine. Jamil Blount, 42, was charged with Level 3 trafficking Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office SCARR (Street Crime and Rapid Response) unit and the LCSO’s narcotics division.
