Massey Toyota is once again the Hole-In-One sponsor of the Lenoir Community College Foundation Golf Classic set for Thursday at the Kinston Country Club, offering each golfer a chance to drive home a brand-new car.

This event has raised more than $600,000 toward student scholarships at LCC since its inception, and Massey Toyota has been a consistent supporter for the past several years. Over 130 golfers played in the tournament last year, and the Foundation is expecting an even better attendance this year.

The tournament is the largest fundraiser of the year for the LCC Foundation and helps support the general scholarship fund. Through events like the LCC Golf Classic, the LCC Foundation funded and awarded 240 scholarships last year.

Piggly Wiggly Fresh Buy, Spirit AeroSystems, West Pharmaceutical, Crown Equipment Corporation, Draken, Neuse News, WRNS, The Bryan Hanks Show, and numerous other local companies also are sponsors. The monetary support allows the foundation to support hundreds of students with tuition, books and emergency loans.

For tournament information and sponsorship opportunities, contact Katherine Pearson, development coordinator, at 252-233-6843, or by email at kwpearson52@lenoircc.edu.

    Commencement

LCC held its 62nd commencement on Thursday at the Student Center with Paul Sugg, president of EastPoint Prosthetics & Orthotics Inc. in Kinston as the keynote speaker. More than 350 graduates were eligible to receive degrees.

A founding partner at Advanced 3D, Inc., and founder of EP Legacy, Sugg received an associate degree from Lenoir Community College in 1988. He also received a bachelor of science in business administration at East Carolina University in 1990 and has earned a master in divinity and is pursuing a doctorate.

He has worked in the field of prosthetics and orthotics for 31 years and started EastPoint in Kinston in 2008. The company now has 37 employees and has offices located in North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
