Police: Vehicle crashes into Kingsport La Carreta restaurant

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — A vehicle crashed into a Kingsport restaurant on Sunday, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage, police report.

The Kingsport Police Department (KPD) reports that officers responded to the La Carreta on John B. Dennis Highway just before 6 p.m. regarding a vehicle that crashed into the restaurant.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2017 Kia Sedona with front damage resting against the building.

The KPD determined that the driver of the Kia was attempting to park when they hit the building. The driver reportedly told police their brakes weren’t functioning properly when parking.

The damage to La Carreta is estimated to be between $15,000 to $20,000, the KPD stated. Damage to the Kia was estimated to be around $5,000.

No injuries were reported.
