Gaston County stores selling defective Vanilla gift cards
A Gaston County man said that he purchased a Vanilla Visa gift card for a friend at a local CVS Pharmacy, but when his friend tried to use it, the gift card was defective. Brent Roberts, who works as a police officer, said that he went to four CVS Pharmacy locations in Gastonia, Bessemer City and Kings Mountain, and found that most of the Vanilla gift cards that were being sold were defective. The cards had numbers missing on the front and did not have verification codes on the back.
Lowell City Council votes to lay off six city employees
The Lowell City Council passed a budget that cut six city staff positions but reduced the city's tax rate by 13.5 cents.
