The Rotary Club of King, North Carolina, honored Cathy Loveday, executive director of the King Chamber of Commerce on May 11, 2024 with the “Service Above Self” Award. During a weekly club meeting, Deanne Moore, a long-time King Rotarian and former director of the King Chamber of Commerce presented the “Service Above Self” Award to Loveday for her exemplary leadership of the Chamber, generous use of her time and talents in service to others and her commitment to the betterment of King and Stokes County.

In 1905, Paul Harris, a businessman in Chicago, Illinois, founded the very first Rotary Club with the intent to provide opportunities for business professionals to gather regularly to share ideas, form lasting friendships, promote peace and understanding, demonstrate ethical behavior and serve others. Today, the Rotary Club of King, one of more than 40,000 Rotary Clubs located throughout the world, collaborates with individuals, businesses and agencies in the community to fulfill the mission of Rotary International. Although Loveday is not a Rotarian, she exemplifies the ideals of the organization.

The Rotary Club of King meets weekly each Thursday morning from 7:00-8:00 a.m. Guests are welcome to attend without a formal invitation or prior notice.
