Tennessee Unclaimed Property Will Be At Chattanooga Taco Festival May 4-5
The Tennessee Department of Treasury, Unclaimed Property Division will be at the Chattanooga Taco Festival, May 4-5, to help reunite East Tennesseans with missing money. Tennesseans have located hundreds, and even thousands of dollars, in missing money at past events. For instance, Pamela Routh, who stopped by their booth at the Tennessee Soybean Festival, claimed $1,285.
Fire Destroys Mowbray Home
A neighbor on Wednesday frantically called 911 reporting a loud explosion and house fire located at 1018 Bunker Ridge Trail. The Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting 30-foot flames and the back of the home fully involved with fire. Large amounts of black smoke could be seen from down the valley.

“A community that has hope cannot be stopped,” said team member Lenise Peterman at the Community by Design presentation to the town of Monteagle. A standing room only crowd filled the city hall conference room April 27 to hear the recommendations of the Community by Design planners who spent three days in Monteagle learning the town. Nearly 200 residents attended the April 25 Imagine Monteagle event to meet one-on-one with the team members. The planners will spend the next couple months drafting a report to offer guidance to help Monteagle get to where it wants to go. Saturday evening the planners offered an overview of what they learned about what the residents want, what the town’s strengths are, and what is lacking.
