Inside Boston's Forgotten Subway Tunnel, Rusted Tracks and Cold War Crackers

Beneath the streets of Boston sits a tunnel that hasn't carried a passenger since the 1960s, but still holds the rusted tracks, ventilation fans and switch box from when it helped launch the nation's first subway system. NBC10 Boston went inside the forgotten passage, part of the historic Tremont Street Subway, and found it frozen in time, down to stacked civil-defense ration cans left over from the Cold War.

Enfield Station Construction Begins on the Hartford Line

ENFIELD, Conn. — Governor Ned Lamont and Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto said on October 28 that construction has started on a new train station in Enfield’s Thompsonville neighborhood. The Connecticut Department of Transportation project is part of the Hartford Line Rail Program and is planned to restore passenger rail service to the town for the first time since 1986. The station fills a gap of about 15 miles between Springfield Union Station and Windsor Locks. Officials held a groundbreaking at the site that day.

Buckland St. & Adams St. — Reported Highest-Crash Intersection. Buckland Street, the stretch of pavement running past the Shoppes at Buckland Hills and the cluster of restaurants, retail plazas and a movie theater that surround it, has recorded 1,144 crashes since 2016 — more than any other road in Manchester. The corridor's four busiest intersections also top the town's list for frequent wrecks, making the Buckland Hills retail district both the town's commercial engine and its most dangerous stretch of asphalt.

Manchester's busiest shopping area is also its biggest car crash hotspot

Buckland Street has seen the most car crashes since 2016, with 1,144 happening in that time.
