Windy Overnight Hours But Sunny Tomorrow
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The drought monitor from last week showed a moderate drought over NE WY and stretching into NW SD. The update from today shows that the moderate drought has completely been wiped out leaving just abnormally dry conditions in NE Wyoming but the moderate drought is still remaining in NW SD and parts of Carter County in Montana. Tonight, rain showers will continue to ease the drought conditions once again in those moderate drought areas. We will see winds start to pick up after midnight and the clouds and rain begin to move out by tomorrow morning. There are wind alerts posted. A wind advisory for areas in the tan color shows wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible and the high wind warning in the darker color, including Sturgis, Box Elder, and Wall, is posted for wind gusts up to 55 mph. These wind alerts start at 8 PM tonight and extend until 2PM tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow, the winds start to die down in the afternoon with temperatures making it into the 60s by then. Plenty of sunshine is on tap for the day tomorrow. Futurecast is showing that sunshine tomorrow, but clouds reappear for the start of the weekend on Saturday with some isolated showers and storms. Sunday, rain increases in coverage with the possibility of some heavier rain. Memorial Day weekend is looking to be wet through Sunday with 70s and sunshine returning for Memorial Day itself. Overnight tonight, temperatures make it into the 30s and 40s. Places like NE Wyoming and the Black Hills might want to cover up their gardens because the cooler air may impact some vegetation that has been planted already. Tomorrow, the sunshine is back in action across the area with temperatures making it into the 60s across all of the Black Hills FOX region. Wind start to die down tomorrow afternoon. The next three days in NE Wyoming showing that we are going to see rain chances increase for Sunday but the sun is back for all on Monday.
