The state Department of Environmental Protection late last week acknowledged a small sewage dumping into the Salt Ponds in Key West, but did not issue a fine and only ordered Waste Management to “mitigate and prevent future spills,” DEP stated. Person arrested after allegedly destroying building, vehicles with tractor; ramming occupied police car in Key West
KEY WEST — Gunfire burst in the Florida Keys on Saturday after a person allegedly drove a tractor around, destroying a building and several vehicles, including ramming an occupied police car.According to Key West Police, it happened on College Road.When officers responded, the suspect allegedly rammed a police car with officers still inside, prompting police to fire their weapons. No injuries were reported.The suspect was then taken into custody.Police are still investigating the incident.

Matthew Buchanan pleads guilty to stabbing his mother to death
Matthew Buchanan pleaded guilty on Monday to murdering his mother in 2022. Buchanan, 34, was the sole suspect in a suspicious death and house fire on April 26, 2022, when he was arrested in Monroe County, Florida a week after the crime. Police and firefighters were called to the home of Elizabeth Bjorlow near Dove Valley Place and Paint Pony Circle just after 2:30 p.m. on April 26. Crews were able to extinguish the fire.
