MSP: Suspect hit, killed by unmarked cruiser during chase in Kentwood

    By Katie Rosendale,

KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers say a man died after being hit by an unmarked cruiser during a foot pursuit.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Kentwood, in the area of 52nd Street and Eastern Avenue, according to a release from the Michigan State Police.

Officers were trying to arrest a man who was wanted on multiple outstanding felony warrants, according to the release.

Troopers say the man ran, sparking a foot pursuit. He was then hit by “an unmarked fugitive team vehicle” that was operated by an MSP detective sergeant, according to troopers.

The man was hospitalized with serious injuries but later died, the release says.

    Troopers are investigating.
